Session Safety

Session Safety | Studio Policy

Updated March 19, 2021: My top priority is always my clients and their session safety. Being that I am a newborn photographer, a lot of these policies have always been in place. The world is ever changing and the safety requirements mandated by government officials is as well. I do not foresee that any of the following practices will likely change, but I encourage you to check back often and prior to your session to stay up-to-date on what to expect during our time together.

Resuming Sessions Safely

I have to admit, this quarantined time has been difficult as a small business owner and mom of VERY busy kiddos!! We have remained home, converted to online grocery shopping and binge watched a LOT of Netflix! I am anxious to get back to work and serve you in the best way possible.

studio policies

Client safety and your experience are my top priorities, always has been and is now more than ever. The following is a break down of the different policies that I am either revamping or implementing going forward.

If you have any comments or questions with any of these, please leave it at the bottom of this post. Your feedback is important to me as we all try to move forward resuming sessions safely.

Protecting My Clients | Session Safety

only those being photographed should attend sessions

I will be only accepting sessions with no more than 5 participants for in studio photography. For outdoor sessions, there is not person limit as proper distancing can be achieved. For newborn, senior or any couple sessions I ask that only the necessary family members attend. So, mom or dad and any siblings that will be in the photos only. If you don’t need to be there, please stay home.

pets are not allowed in the studio

I will not be allowing pets into the studio. Mainly this is because it requires that you bring additional people with you to assist in the pet’s care. I will still allow pets for outdoor sessions.

masks are required

Studio Sessions

I will be wearing a mask as much as possible. This will help me protect your family, my other clients as well as myself and my family. I will have sterile masks available for use while you are in the studio if you forget yours. Masks are required for anyone entering the studio and will be removed only while being photographed. For newborns, I will be wearing sterile gloves as well.

Outdoor Sessions

For outdoor sessions, where social distancing of six feet or greater can be observed at all times, I may choose to not wear them for practical purposes. It may be hard for you to hear and understand me with a mask on. From a distance of 6 feet, I will need to be able to effectively communicate with you. I will always ask you prior to removing my mask to ensure that you are comfortable with it.

You can read CDC guidelines on wearing face masks here.

wellness screening is required

All clients are required to truthfully fill out a wellness screening prior to coming to the studio. It will be emailed to you within 24 hours of your session time. You are also going to be temp-checked upon arrival to the studio prior to being able to enter. Anyone with an illness, COVID or otherwise, is not permitted into the studio at anytime.

no props can be brought into the studio

For the next few months, I will not allow outside props. This is primarily to reduce the risk of cross contamination into and out of the studio or session space. I don’t want you brining something home from a session area, like a park, and have it contaminate your home.

hand washing and sanitizing often

This may seem like common sense, but I will be washing my hands with soap and water prior to your arrival. Hand sanitizer will be used throughout our time together. I have sanitizing wipes, Lysol spray and hand sanitizer available for client use as well. For those that have worked with me in the past, you are aware that this is a practice that has been in place already.

I am upping my hand washing game as well as using sanitizer in conjunction with proper washing techniques. I will have sanitizer available in my bag as well as my studio space for you to use.

Social Distancing

social distancing when necessary

Going forward, when possible, I will be social distancing when possible. For outdoor sessions this means that I will keep at least 6-10 feet between myself and my clients. I will not be hand shaking or hugging, for your safety and not because I don’t love you! For in home and studio sessions, it gets a bit trickier.

I will obviously not be able to maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet. I will however do the following:

  • Leave my shoes outside your door or use shoe coverings in your home.
  • Wash my face and hands as well as use sanitizer upon entering your home and wear a mask at all times.
  • If you are having a studio session with me, I will also be doing all of these things prior to your arrival.

Keeping Areas Clean | Session Safety

remove shoes in studio

It will be required for you to remove your shoes or use shoe covering when entering the studio. I will also be doing the same when I enter your home, if we are having a in-home session.

disinfecting all touched surfaces

I will sanitize all surfaces in between sessions. This includes doorknobs, the bathroom, floors, props, furniture and any other surface that clients come in contact with.

sanitizing all props and fabrics before use

I will thoroughly wash and sanitize all of my props, furniture, wraps, dresses, outfits and any other items used during a session. This is common practice already. I am taking extra steps to ensure that everything that you and your loved ones come in contact with, is cleaned properly and sanitized regularly.

As we attempt to navigate the world around us in this new way, I want you to know that you are appreciated! My clients and their overall experience is most important to me. I welcome any feedback and/or advise that you may have as we move forward and I look forward to our time together!
