So, you know that I’m a photographer! But you may not know that…
1. I HATE doing laundry!
Yes, I’m that mom that will wash and dry clothes weekly, but it’s a miracle that those clothes get folded before I have to “re-fluff” them in the dryer! One of the common answers to the “where is my (fill in the blank)?” is “check the basket, it’s clean!”
I hope I’m not the only one, but hey, I feel like it’s a win that they are clean! haha!!
2. I have to be SUPER organized.
I am that woman that has the label maker and can color code anything. And don’t get me started on baskets and bins!! It’s so funny because at times my husband, Dan, will not be able to find something and I’m like “did you look under the correct alphabetized category?” It drives him crazy! But hey, if I’m not organized I feel like my world would implode. So is the clear pasta containers necessary? Umm, YES! Can you find the elbow noodles?!
Side note: Props to the hubby for building this pantry for me! I had all these awesome ideas from Pinterest and bombarded him with images and he was able to take all that information and make this perfect just for me, which takes me to my next thing.
3. I Pin EVERYthing!!
Like seriously y’all, everything! I find myself getting sucked into the Pinterest hole for hours on end. I come out of it with all these ideas for craft projects to try or things I need to build and bake. It’s too funny, but one of my kids one night looked at dinner and was like, “moms been on Pinterest again!” Ok, so most of what I try is amazing, but there are a few fails out there…..maybe that could be another blog post. I don’t know if y’all need to see that though! #pinaholic

4. I love to golf.
This is a hobby that we share as a family. Even Quinn, our 7 year old has clubs and goes out with us. My hubby and I go golfing for “date night”. It is something that we have been doing together since we first started dating and we don’t plan on quitting anytime soon. This picture was from our trip to Ithaca, NY last fall and yes, we lugged three sets of clubs all the way up there! No regrets, the weather was awesome and we played a course that had a par 6, a first for me and my son Taylor. Taylor started golfing at age 3 and now is amazing at it!
5. I love the environment.
A few years back we cut out plastic grocery store bags. Ok, so in full transparency sometimes I forget to grab my reusable bags as I’m running out of the house with kids in tow. However, my shift in focus reminds me that I will either need to just toss my stuff into the back of our car (not organized, yes and it destroys me driving home with everything rolling around) or to just grab paper.
We also have tried, tried being the key here, to remember to bring our reusable straws with us. This one is hard guys, really hard. My daughter, Marissa, is the one that reminds me to grab them or if we forgot, to decline the disposable and suck it up til we get home. She’s my accountability buddy!
Isn’t she a mini-me?! It’s crazy how much she looks like me. It’s almost like God made a stamp of me and was like “BAM” another Jennifer!
6. This one may be a shock. I LOVE power tools!!
Building things with wood from just a pile of lumber brings me joy and it’s something that my husband and I enjoy to do together. I recently took on a master closet re-build after we discover a roof leak that forced us to replace drywall in our closet. So this had me in that Pinterest hole….again! I was determined to get exactly what I wanted so, why not build it ourselves!? I’ll have to do a post on that process because y’all, it was not as quick and easy as what I pinned! lol!
Don’t mind the hair, it’s me in a power tool moment! Do you see the full laundry basket behind me? Yeah, I hate doing laundry! haha!!
7. I have a slight addiction to coffee, ok maybe it’s a huge addiction to coffee!
I start everyday with about a pot and then, on a good day, can make it through the Starbucks drive thru for a fancy coffee! My favorite is a non-fat latte, no foam with 2 Splenda. In the summer months I may splurge on a Frappe! My hubby says that ordering at Starbucks is like trying to speak a foreign language so he is so grateful for the mobile app. Now all he has to say is “mobile order for Jennifer” and they just give it to him! I have the best hubby, he will just make a Starbucks run for me just because!
Here is me and the love of my life!
8. I love Target.
I find that when bored, I’m like “let’s go to Target!” We wonder around for a while, I get some amazing things that I didn’t even realize we needed and my hubby wonders what in the world took 2 hours. Oh, and they have a Starbucks so, double win for me!!
9. We don’t have a TV in our living room.
This is a recent change in our home. I stay home with my kiddos and we homeschool. I was finding that way too often we were getting sucked into mindless hours of Netflix binge watching and not really spending quality time together. This really came to be after we went on a trip to the mountains of North Carolina for Christmas. We strategically chose a place where there was no cell signal (my teens had a cow for like the first day) and no tv. We brought games and puzzles. The house we rented had a game room.
Guys, it was awesome! We unplugged and really got to spend some amazing time together. So much so that when we got home, we took the TV out of the living room and implemented a family charging station for all our phones. We spend a few days a week, unplugged. This has allowed us to stay connected to each other, pray and read the bible together and really keep our focus on what really matters to us, our faith and our family.
Here is a picture from our Christmas family vacation, matching jammies and all! I deemed it the buffalo plaid Christmas! I ran with the theme, I even got dish towels and blankets to match!
10. I play Soda Crush Saga…
I play Soda Crush Saga…..like I have this need to play more levels than my best friend. It comes from my natural need to succeed. When she said she was on level like two thousand and something…. in my head I was like “challenge accepted!”
So, there you go. Ten things you didn’t but now know about me. Thanks for getting to know me. I would love to get to know you too! Write a comment and share if you are in the same boat as me with the coffee obsession or the love of Pinterest!
Here are a few more pictures of my family, enjoy!
You can find out more about me on my About page!
Love this! I thought we were on the same page when I read about your hatred for laundry, but then I saw your pantry! Damn girl, I need that level of organization!
I love this!
I think we just became best friends. Girl, I hate doing laundry too. I can wash it and load the dryer no problem, but get me to put it away and fold is like pulling teeth. π« I can drink coffee all day long. Target is my go-to happy place because itβs Target and well Starbucks duh!π Love this post!
What a lovely introduction! So funny, I do laundry everyday and love it!
I love this personal post. I hate doing laundry as well!
