Fresh 48 Newborn Session | Winston-Salem, NC. The sweet baby was born on Tuesday, July 19th in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Addie’s parents, Bryson and Hailey are two of the sweetest people I have ever worked with. I was thrilled with the opportunity to document the birth of their sweet baby girl, Addie Leigh.
We first met for coffee, no surprise there for anyone who knows me! After their maternity session at Dewberry farm (you can find he link below), it was time to style Addie’s Fresh 48 and Newborn sessions. This is always to the fun part! Mama came into the studio and we had a blast choosing colors, hats and headbands (you can find Addie’s newborn session link below!). I showed up, mama had just received her breakfast and Addie was fast asleep! For any photographer, we love sweet sleeping babies. I jumped right in, tidying up and moving a few things around to make the small space work well for this sweet family. Surprisingly small hospital rooms actually work well for these types of sessions, mainly because the goal is the intimate moments when mama and dad are bonding with their new baby.
What is a Fresh 48 and why do you offer it?
What is a Fresh 48 session? A fresh 48 is when I come to the place of birth sometime between 36-48 hours after a sweet baby is born. Surprisingly I spend only about 45 minutes to an hour, but take as many images as I can to capture that moment. Essentially a Fresh 48 is a mini session that captures baby as a fresh newborn within the 48 hours old timeframe.
Why is a Fresh 48 important? Babies change rapidly over the first year, the first week is no exception. Most newborns change within the first four to six days. This session is designed to freeze these fleeting moments so that they can be cherished forever. However it does not take the place of a Birth Story, but can be an amazing addition to it! Creating a heirloom album that includes a Fresh 48, alongside with maternity and newborn sessions, gives families a great way to display, remember and share each precious birth with future generations.

A: I offer three packages. Each designed to capture the season of pregnancy and baby’s first weeks of life for my clients. The Azalia Package features a full maternity session, a fresh 48 session and a newborn mini. The Magnolia Package includes two options. First is a full maternity session, birth story and a newborn mini. Second is a full maternity session, fresh 48, newborn mini and a first birthday session with a cake smash. The Camellia Package includes a full maternity session, birth story, fresh 48 and a full newborn session.
